Sermon August 25, 2013: Squirrelality

DSCN1146What is “squirrelality?” A web search may not help you with the answer, and your autocorrect will give strange results.

Today’s sermon is based on Proverbs 29:18.

As you read the book of Proverbs, you will always learn something new. Proverbs are sayings about everyday life. Proverbs demonstrate the way God designed life to work most of the time. Proverbs are not absolutes. Most of the Proverbs were written by Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived.

Here is Proverbs 29:18, quoted in four versions:
KJV: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
NIV: “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.”
NLT: “When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Dan Keeton: “When you (or we) don’t base your life on solid scriptural principles, you (or we) get squirrely.”

Squirrelality is the craziness created by not following God’s laws.
