A Special Celebration to Honor Missions Education

Congratulations to everyone who read all of the 2011-12 missionary books this year!

The GGNaz Missions Council said thank you, this past Sunday, to our church family for supporting missions throughout the year. They also said a very special thank you to everyone who has read or listened to all six 2011-12 Missions Books. It was a fun evening with ice cream and a wide assortment of toppings. Scoops and toppings were only 25 cents, but free for the avid readers. We had a lot of fun singing a few “vintage” Sunday school songs (hand motions and all!).

Knowledge leads to compassion

The Church of the Nazarene has a great tradition of adult missions education. Every year, Nazarene Missions International publishes a set of books that tell the stories of men and women all over the world, from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, who heed the call to serve.  NMI describes their mission best:

Knowledge is key to involvement. With an understanding of the needs of the world and what the church is doing to meet those needs, we are more likely to commit to the support of missions through prayer, giving, communication, and going. (From www.nmi.nazarene.com.)

The GGNaz Missions Council works hard to make missions learning fun. If you would like to read some of this year’s books, email church-office@ggnaz.org or talk to our Nazarene Missions International President, Debbie Johnson at church this Sunday. You can also check out Mission Connection Magazine or visit the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries website.
